The Truth of You: Poetry about Love, Life, Joy, and Sadness
by Iain S. Thomas
4/4 stars-
this book was by far one of the best rupi kaur style poetry books i’ve read in a while- and not because it was rupis style. most books with this poetry style are straight rip offs- same outlines , same feelings. this book actually used figurative language to go in depth into the feelings rather than “i’m sad because ___” it uses metaphors and actual ideals rather than basic poetry. much like rupi, they describe the feelings in depth rather than just deciding to remake rupis but blander. it didn’t feel like a repeat which is really so hard to do with this style of poetry.
overall would recommend <3
