“Humans. For the most part, you are dull and blundering.  But occasionally, you can be remarkably bright creatures.”

WOW. What a phenomenal debut. This one hit me hard with so many emotions. I was left a bit breathless by the end.

First of all, there is an Octopus POV that was so refreshing and unique. I absolutely loved having Marcellus’s remarkably bright perspective and while I loved all of the characters, he was my favorite. He reminded me of that escaping octopus, Hank, from Finding Dory.

The close-knit small town setting was described perfectly with a sweet cast of characters. At first I was unsure how they’d all tie together but everything came full circle in the end.

As the reader, you know something that the other characters don’t, which made me want to binge read so that I could see their reactions. And as the secrets were revealed, it was so emotional and satisfying.

Marcellus and Tova had the sweetest friendship. The book is so beautifully written, and the relationships in the story pulled at my heartstrings.

This is definitely one I’d recommend. There’s a little something here for everyone.
