I toured Nashville’s maximum security prison with a colleague and some students many years ago. It was a sobering experience. We saw death row, the electric chair, and other locations described in this book. I’ve been inside a prison the upstate New York and the jail in Franklin for visits, but neither of those were the intensity of what was described here. Life behind bars and the crimes that lead an individual to a state-mandated end are intriguing. Didn’t necessarily enjoy this one, but worth the listen.
