I wasn't expecting Carrie to be written the way it is, part novel, part collection of reports, interviews, and firsthand accounts, but that structure pulled me in immediately. It made everything feel eerily real and grounded, like reading the aftermath of something both tragic and inevitable. The way Stephen King pieces the story together through different voices gave it so much texture.

Carrie herself broke my heart. The writing captures her loneliness and pain in such a raw way, Some of the language and social attitudes were shocking, but also served as a harsh reminder of the time period the book comes from.

Every character felt layered, even when I didn’t agree with their choices. I especially liked Susan’s sections; there’s something honest and vulnerable in her voice.

This book was so much more than I expected. Strange, tragic, and unforgettable.
