The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson

This review may have a few spoilers and I'm sorry.

Honestly speaking this book was not my favorite. It had some good parts, but the writing style was choppy and hard to read without getting irritating at times. The romance was building up but the ending felt lackluster. They said I love you to one another without truly having those heart to heart moments, you know those moments that made it worth wild. Instead you got a handful of almost moments and too many misunderstandings.

And don't get me started on her ex, because he was one step away from kidnapping her I swear. The guy forcefully kissed her and instead of her slapping him, she pulls him outside just to talk and he still doesn't take the hint.

Then there's all the God stuff that felt thrown in out of nowhere, I'm not religious at all but I can read religious books and not cringe as much as I did reading this, it felt so out of place in so many ways and left a bad taste in my mouth. Her mother was depressed and instead of getting her help through therapy or offering her a sympathetic ear she tells her that she needs to have a relationship with god. More like they both need to have a relationship with a therapist to unpack all of the crap in their shared pasts and figure out why her mother wasn't really a mother at times and how it left a scar on the daughter.

Honestly I'm amazed I got to the end without setting the book on fire. The only truly redeeming part of the whole book were the trailers, which is sad because the book had potential to be good except it had very poor execution which ruined it for me in the end.
