Happily Ever After in Bliss

Honestly, I would give all of Lexi's books 10 stars...she is a one-click author for me. She always has been and I don't see that changing any time soon considering her writing is always top notch!
Happily Ever After In Bliss is a long time coming in the sense that Henry and Nell Flanders is a couple that has been around basically since the inception of Bliss, Co and here we are years later finally getting their story.
To give anyone who is unknown to the series, here is just a bit of background...Henry Flanders is also known as John Bishop a former CIA operative who now resides in Bliss, Co after he faked his own death to escape working for the US government. He's hidden his past and the man he was for years, but unfortunately the past has a way of catching up to everyone. As much as Bliss is a quiet, small, remote town in Colorado, it is also one that has a way of attracting bad guys and Henry/John has had to pull out his training on a few occasions which has pulled out a few suspicious glances throughout the years, especially when one of the bad guys turned up internally decapitated, one of John's specialities. John walked away from everything when he fell in love with Nell, who knows nothing about what he was, she believes he's a history professor known as Henry and they have created a peaceful life; a tofu eating, save the earth kind of life together. Oh, and they also have a baby on the way. Henry is a long way from the man known as John. Too bad his past is hellbent on catching up to him.
Happily Ever After In Bliss weaves us through the life of Henry/John and how he came to living the life he currently is, along with how he's going to be able to keep living his current life. You see, once Nell learns the truth about her husband; she's a protesting vegan who detests violence who's just discovered her husband used to live his life in the center of it, she has to come to terms with how to move forward with this knowledge. How she can combine the two men in her mind. She's only known Henry, so knowing that he was John fractures a piece of their marriage and repairing it takes time. Time that is precious considering they have a child on the way.
This is a beautiful tribute to not only what a marriage can go through and come out the otherside not only stronger, but to the overall worlds Lexi has created in Bliss, Texas Sirens, and the Masters and Mercenaries series. She weaves us in and out of timelines where Henry/John and also Nell has been an integral part of so many people's lives and it's a wonderful walk through Lexi's history of what she has created and also what we have to look forward to. Bliss is never a world I want to leave as I've come to call so many my friends over the last decade, so as much as I loved having the Flanders' story is was also bittersweet.
Happily Ever After In Bliss can be read as a standalone, but probably better read in conjunction with Once Upon a Time In Bliss for Henry and Nell’s backstory. You will also run into some of your favorite characters sprinkled throughout, especially those who were special to Henry and Nell.
