No Beast So Fierce: The Terrifying True Story of the Champawat Tiger, the Deadliest Animal in History by Dane Huckelbridge

4.0

A very solid account of the Champawat Man-Eater, who killed over 400 people in the early 1900s across Nepal and India.

The author has a very pleasant writing voice and I like how it both acknowledges both Corbett's feats, but also acknowledges some of the harm the colonialism of the British did to the local peoples. I am definitely looking to read Corbett's books on the subject as well to get a more direct account of the events, but since those were written ages ago I like that this book also shows a more modern and progressive take on things and also tries to at least in part showcase the POV of the indigenous locals, who bore the brunt of the tiger's attacks.

I do wonder what ended up happening tot he Champawat's remains, as they appear lost.
