We Have Always Lived in the Castle
by Shirley Jackson
Jackson’s prose is so lovely even though she tackles dark events and actions. This novel harkens back to her classic short sorry ‘The Lottery’ and I thoroughly enjoyed the extended illustration of societal demise within the world of the Blackwoods. I first watched the movie adaptation of ‘Castle’ and am obsessed with the casting choices and with how closely the 2 follow each other. Shirley Jackson is really a treasure and I can’t wait to read the rest of her catalogue.
