Escape Room by Christopher Edge

2.0

Got this one from the library to see if it would be something Violet would like - we both love escape rooms. On the plus side, I liked the creativity of the different environments and the abandoned settings (library and mall in particular) were definitely effectively creepy. The unpredictability of what would happen next was exciting.

But overall, not my favorite book - not enough like an actual escape room (more Jumanji-like action scenes than actual puzzles to solve), too much character death (including the unnecessary death of an animal in an extremely heavy-handed dose of anti-plastic-waste moralism) and I felt “the Answer” at the end was a bit cheesy.
