Playlist for the Dead
by Michelle Falkoff
It seems to me there has been an influx of YA books on the subject of suicide. Recently I have read Thirteen Reasons Why, I Was Here, and now Playlist for the Dead. As far as Playlist for the Dead is concerned it wasn't as good as the others. Just being honest. It was very mediocre. Are you wondering why then did I rated it 4 Stars? The playlist. Every chapter is a song and in that chapter the song or band is mentioned in some way. What I did was make a playlist and listen to it as I read the book. When I would start a new chapter I put that song on. I love the music that was picked. I have heard most of the songs/bands already, but not all. IT'S A VERY GOOD PLAYLIST! I feel like with the playlist as a companion to the novel you get a fuller reading/emotional experience. Plus, it adds something fun and different to a meh book.
