Wonder by R.J. Palacio

5.0

We meet Wonder, the boy who has never been to school until his parents decide that it's finally time to take him to school after years of home schooling.

He then faces many challenges, from learning how to love school despite its challenges. His first year proves to be challenging with all the bullying, being cropped out of school pictures, other kids being afraid of him and saying he's got the "plaque".

What I admired the most about Auggie was his courage, his kindness, despite everything he went through and how he somehow always managed to speak about himself in a jokingly manner. Always open to answering the question about what happened to his face to anyone who kindly asked.

On the other hand, his sister was silently suffering. All the pressure at school and not wanting to talk about it because it seemed to her that Auggie was the number one priority. She understood the situation with her Lil brother, cared for him but at the same time, felt neglected, as if the only person who ever cared for her was her grandma.

Wonder is a story about kindness, about one boy's sudden exposure to mid school  after years of home schooling and it's a story of overcoming obstacles and of friendships.

I loved the writing style. I loved how Palacio gave us an opportunity or insights into other character's thoughts so we don't just guess why what is happening.
I highly recommend for anyone because it is bound to teach the reader, a thing or two about kindness.
