planetshannon 's review for:
Moby-Dick
by Herman Melville
This ended up being very different than I expected, and I can totally see why it's one often DNF'd. I didn't enjoy reading it all that much but would consider re-reading parts of it because the story and the information on whaling felt like a very odd blend of fiction and non-fiction.
I enjoyed the story, although there are lots of outdated views and terms that even made that a challenge. But the language when it was telling the story was quite wonderful. I'm still processing the experience, and not settled on exactly how I feel about the book but I am happy I made it through all the way to the end!
