Set in Nigeria, by a Nigerian author, with fantastical elements derived from traditional beliefs.
FMC summons a demon in order to enact vengeance and murder her rapist, and reclaim her life. MMC delights in her bloodthirstiness. I know, it sounds like it should be dark, but I found it to be a surprisingly sweet book. MMC is touch-starved, and very respectful and deferential. They avoid issues of any power imbalance. I strongly disagree with the characterization of this book as erotica. There are open door sex scenes, but there is a plot and character development, not just a premise off of which to hang a bunch of smut. The main characters are complex and lovable.
CW: The rape occurred before the beginning of the book, and is recounted in fragments in flashbacks.
Bonus: FMC is lovingly depicted as plus sized.
