Friendshipped
by Savannah Scott
Friend(Shipped) by Savannah Scott is a closed-door friends-to-lovers contemporary romance, and the first book in the Getting Shipped! series. I listened to the audiobook, which clocks in at a little under nine hours and is narrated by Amy McFadden and Will Damron with an alternating first-person point-of-view.
Trevor and Lexi grew up next door to each other and have been best friends for basically their entire lives. They've also secretly harbored deeper feelings for each other forever, but neither wanted to ruin their friendship. Now in their early twenties, they share a duplex and work at the local newspaper.
Friends to lovers romances can be hit or miss for me, but this one was really charming! The audiobook narrators did a great job with both characters here. I laughed out loud several times while listening, so the humor was on point for me.
Docking a star because there was a lot of repetition from both main characters, mostly involving "but I don't want to mess up our best friendship" or "but how could they be into me," etc. But at the same time I was really rooting for them so I pushed through that repetition to get through to a really sweet epilogue.
The side characters are great here, and I'm looking forward to continuing with the series to read more about them.
Tropes in this book include: best friends to lovers, secret feelings, slow burn, neighbors, coworkers, small town, cinnamon roll hero, curvy heroine
