Absolutely dark and depressing. Yozo’s life is a life of sadness, depression, and complete misfortune. It seems that everyone he meets and everything he does goes wrong and ultimately ends in death and more misfortune. 

Gotta be in the right mindset to read this, but it’s classic Junji Ito and it makes me want to pick up the original novel to see how it compares.
