De tyngdlösa by Valeria Luiselli

2.0

Finally I am free of this pretentious (not in a good way) fragmented (not in a good way) novel!!

The last 60 pages or so are slightly more interesting than the previous, but overall way too much unchecked objectification and casual racial stereotyping for me. (In the universe of this book even dead plants are unable to observe a body passing by without gawping at pubic hair and bums - I mean, come on?!!)

Left me completely cold, when not annoyed or infuriated.

Really disappointed as I've heard so many good things about Luiselli. I will give her writing another go at some point, but for now I look forward to reading things that are less posey and that grip and stimulate heart and intellect.
