A Ticking Time Boss
by Olivia Hayle
DID NOT FINISH: 73%
I really tried my fucking best to finish this. The last few days I read the three earlier books in the series and quite enjoyed them. Nothing groundbreaking or highlight worthy, but enjoyable. They're all quite short and thus perfect to read in like an evening or two. This book would fall into those same categories, where there not this one thing. I tried ignoring it, tried really hard, (I was ready to dnf over it at like 10% but was really committed to read the whole series) but then I decided not to torture myself any longer.
The thing I couldn't get over, obviously is the fact that he would not stop calling her by his "petname" kid
the first time he said it, I could overlook it, the second time I was bothered, I was really fucking annoyed though when he just didn't stop. Even after they started being intimate. It felt, predatory.
Kid in books (English is not my first language, obviously, so no idea if people say it as a pet name for significant others in real life) is reserved for kids! so saying that to someone you've just fucked? Icky.
The second star is just for the fact that the book could've been enjoyable if you replace the kid with literally any other pet name. Actually, I'd even prefer kitten and I hate that too.
