The Invocations
by Krystal Sutherland
Disappointing 😢 I loved The House Of Hollow, so I was so excited for this book! The concept was great; witchy, feminist vibes with demons. However, the execution was lacking. I enjoyed the first 200 pages, although they were slow going at times, but it was downhill from there. It was boring in parts, and confusing in others. It was too descriptive at times and kept dragging on. The ending wasn’t executed well. The feminist themes could have been a lot better. I felt the potential of the story, but overall it wasn’t done very well in my opinion.
Positives: I loved Jude. She provided a comic relief to the story that was so fun! I loved the witchy, gothic vibes. I enjoyed the idea of 3 young girls banding together. I thought the idea of the book was great but it was just lacking everywhere.
