Humor, Seriously: Why Humor Is a Secret Weapon in Business and Life (and How Anyone Can Harness It. Even You.) by Naomi Bagdonas, Jennifer Aaker

3.5

Humor, Seriously is a book based on Stanford's graduate class. The authors explain how humor improves communication and confidence, relieves tension, and fosters creativity, resilience, and humility. In the workplace, humor builds trust, enhances teamwork, and increases productivity. The authors discuss research and give specific examples from comedians, politicians, and leaders in the corporate world. They also offer tips on reading the room and what to do when humor fails. The book focuses on workplace situations, but the same concept applies to any situation.

We have all heard sayings like “Laughter is the best medicine” and “Don’t take yourself too seriously.”  What I learned from this book is that humor is a mindset.
