Not a fan.

I’ve liked the first two books in the series, but this one didn’t impress me at all. First of all, Dale wasn’t a good hero. He was too dense for me to root for him. He seriously couldn’t figure out what Gin needed for their relationship to improve. It wasn’t rocket science, just a little bit of empathy.

Second, this book contained my least favorite trope. The miscommunication trope is a lazy book idea. “Let’s have two characters totally not talk to each other about anything important for 250 pages & then, in the last 50, we’ll shove a bunch of exposition in & act like they’ve always meant to be together.

The story wasn’t too bad as far as plot & pacing. But, the H & h were not the best. The h just accepted the H’s “explanation” of why he can’t give the h the dignity & respect she deserves.

Lesson learned-Don’t put up with some baggage riddled alcoholic that patronizes you when you try to help him by telling him that his wife’s cheating on him.

Happy Sunday!
