I liked the premise of the book. It kind of has a John Tucker Must Die vibes? I probably would've given this a 3 or 3.5, but literally the most random plot point is revealed at the end of the book.
Apparently Mary is some sort of witch or supernatural being, but the only hint we get is ???? maybe three instances/scenes in the book, and one passing comment about Mary's aunt, who "looks witchy." Like what kind of set up is that!!! This is in the contemporary genre and like, 98% of it is, but?
It's not contemporary if there are non-realistic things in it!
