My affinity for thrillers has really grown the last few years but it’s hard to find ones out there that aren’t full of smut, violence and language. That being said I was SO excited to receive an ARC copy of this suspense novel by an up and coming Christian author.
It’s all in her head follows Marine Adams, a lovable young therapist who begins to be haunted by nightmares and followed by an obsessive stalker. It’s packed with moments of anxiety and fear, yet also includes some surprisingly sweet exchanges between her best friend Hannah, and love interest, Jason. 💓
To be honest some of the spiritual aspects of the book were a little confusing to me- multiple characters come into contact with the same “Shadow” figure whose identity is never fully specified (such as a demon or Satan himself). The Shadow is obviously very evil and dark- it was just a little difficult to determine who/what exactly it was and where it got it’s power to speak into the thoughts and minds of the characters.
Besides that, Its all in Her Head was an easy and suspenseful read from a promising new author in the Christian thriller community!
One thing I really appreciated was that the book and the protagonist’s struggles didn’t conclude as soon as she accepted Jesus into her life. Wyeth communicated well the reality that walking with God doesn’t always shield us from darkness or fix our struggles but it does give us the light to see through the darkness and the strength to help us walk through it. 🤍
