' "She ought to have a name," said Mrs B, ginger on the subject. "You can't call her 'little bird' forever."
"Why can't I?" Mary said, soft-pressing her lips to the top of the child's head. "What name could possibly contain her?" '

I've just finished this and I don't think I will ever stop talking about it from this moment on.
Love & Fury follows the life of Mary Wollstonecraft as she's about to give birth to her second daughter. Alternating between 1979 when Mary Shelley is being born and different points in the young Wollstonecraft's life. This novel unfolds like Wollstonecraft telling her life story to her newly born baby girl. This book will rip out your heart and make you sob but at the same time it's so hopeful and inspiring, Mary Wollstonecraft had a hard upbringing and constantly fighting for change.
It's written so beautifully that passages took my breath away. When reading it even though you know what happens and how this will end, you hope that some how it will turn out differently this time.
Mary's character is so fleshed out and real, you instantly love and admire her. She was passionate, clever and strong. This novel has made me fall more in love with Mary Wollstonecraft.
The passages about her friendship with Fanny were gut wrenching and you could feel the love, admiration pouring from the pages. I also adored the chapters showing Mary being the governess for the King sisters especially Margaret King who she became very close to and influenced massively.
The book tackles very difficult and distressing subjects but with such care and empathy that it's very well done.
I absorbed this and couldn't read it quickly enough. Easily making it's way into my favourite books I have read this year.
