His by Aubrey Dark

I have a terribly hard time trying to come up with a rating for this book. I feel completely torn. On the one side it was dark, really dark. Gav is cold hearted and the way he enjoys killing is disturbing... but still good to read.
Kat is a strange character. She has a lot od burdens from her past, is strong and yet weak at the same time.

I think my problem is that I felt this book didn't take one direction and stick with it. It starts out dark, with Gav murdering a professor and then locking Kat in the basement. But then it sort of changed. There's always the talk of Gav being this cold, cruel serial killer but in truth he "only" murdered one person in this book. All Kat has to do is offer him her body and he's good.
And how can it be that in between the murder and their confession of undying love only a handful of days pass? And why exactly should Kat fall for him anyway? BEcause he's hot? Because he can make her orgasm? Because he brings her dirty books? I couldn't connect to this on any level so at some point I found it hard to stay involved.
