The First Day of the Rest of her Life by Aaron Alexovich, Drew Rausch, Mariah McCourt

3.0

This is a fairly light-hearted horror comic about a Sally-esque undead girl who wakes up in a crypt and discovers she lives in a cemetery, but has no memories and knows nothing about herself beyond her name. She befriends the various also tween-aged creatures in the cemetery - a fish boy, vampire boy, wolf girl and a magic/scientist girl with high ambitions - and gains a few clues to her identity. Mostly, though, she remains upbeat and makes friends. Cute, maybe good for like, younger kids eyeing stuff like Emily the Strange or for Monster High fans. I have mixed feelings about the layouts? I thought maybe they were supposed to make us feel disoriented because Crimson feels disoriented, with all the memory loss and stuff, but I got kind of sick of the oval-insert panels and wavy structures after a while. Might be more effective if used more sparingly?
