The Confession of Brother Haluin by Ellis Peters
mysterious
4.0
I really enjoyed this book. It’s such a creative concept: a medieval monk solving crimes. I’ve only read one other medieval mystery series, but I think I might be seeing some common elements of the genre (abortion, a quest, scandals, etc.).
It reminds me of the Father Brown series. Brother Haluin is a nice main character, it was nice reading about someone I actually like. I can’t really judge the mystery, ‘cause I’m not good at solving those, but I did find it a bit slow and lacked a bit of a climax, but overall it was a good read, also because it was intriguing and a fairly new mix of setting and genre for me.
