I was completely taken with this book.

A gorgeous recollection of a spring and summer in which an unnamed artist comes to stay on the property of our unnamed narrator. Slow paced but full of intimate revelations and unravellings. Cusk captures her characters’ inner worlds and the landscapes they inhabit with hypnotic prose that will have you questioning the narratives we write for ourselves.
Themes of womanhood, creation, motherhood, freedom and identity are interwoven through our narrator’s deeply revealing and deliciously tangential retelling of a spring and summer on her wild marsh.

This was a beautiful read that I will definitely come back to when in need of pure, evocative writing.
