Where Mickey7 sets the world up for Mickey and his escape from a never ending life of servitude, this book really helps him develop as a character and show his true heroism.

*Spoilers for Book 1 obviously*
It's been two years since the events of the first book, and the antimater bomb that Mickey left buried outside is safe and sound. But when the colony is on the brink of losing all power, he realizes he needs to get it back. The problem is...it's not there. Now Mickey and his friends need to communicate with the aliens of this world and figure out a way to get the bomb back. It's still comedic like the first book, but there's a bit more action and tension that makes this journey a bit more exciting.

Mickey7 has had a lot of time to actually live and be a real person over the past two years, so this really helps with his development. He becomes just a little less selfish and gains some leadership experience points, and in a book like this, that's a lot of development for him. Likewise, the cast of other characters also felt more fully rounded off. The plot moves along at a brisk pace and doesn't dawdle for too long in any one place, and the writing stays consistent throughout.

Overall, it's a good sequel that I would say is better than the first.
