Educated by Tara Westover

5.0

Have there been times when you read a book and wonder oh my god, I thought I used to have a life with problems. But, what on earth is this. Educated won the Goodreads Award for biography. There's a reason why it surpassed Michelle Obama's 'Becoming.' I'm only sad that it took me so long to get hold of this and read it..

.
Synopsis: Tara lived home for the first 16 years of her life with her extremely delusional and strict parents who didn't let her do regular schooling. It's about how she breaks out of her toxic family and the bonds into a regular world.
.
Thoughts: Never has a book in recent times managed to anger, shock, tear me up at one go. I'm shaking. I'm shaking at how a family is beyond any help and destroyed the lives of all their children. I'm shook at how a brother constantly assaulted his sisters. I'm shook as a father put his children's lives in danger every single day. I'm shook as a mother chose to be ignorant and in denial. This is a book that everyone has to read. You may not necessarily relate to what you read. But, this is reality. I'll top it up by saying you'd need multiple reminders on how this isn't fiction. It's as realistic as it can get. An extremely important read. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5 stars).
