5/5 Stars 👏🏼
(I read this book over 10 years ago, 5/5 then, 5/5 now)

They simply do NOT make books this good anymore. I’m such a Twilight fan. I read the books in middle school, went to all the movie premieres, adore the soundtracks, had merch, literally all the things.

I rewatch the movies about once a year but have never went back & reread the books. I was a bit hesitant because I was worried they wouldn’t age well, or they would feel too cheesy or juvenile. Boy, was I wrong. I am OBSESSED again. I feel like I’m 13 reading about Edward & Bella for the first time. I simply could not stop reading, even though I already know what happens next.

If you have never read this series, please do. I genuinely think people who don’t like it just want to hate it because it’s popular. If you have read & watched the movies read below for a few of my thoughts.

This series really was such an important part of my reading journey growing up, & the movies were such a huge part of my childhood as well. Going back & rereading the book I noticed a few things between the book & movie.

  1. I think the movie was EXTREMELY well cast & the plot of the movie follows the book almost word for word. It’s such a phenomenal movie adaptation.
  2. Kristen Stewart gets so much unnecessary hate for her role as Bella. She literally plays her perfectly??? Bella is constantly talking about holding in her emotions & trying to stay emotionless in the books.
  3. I think the biggest issue I have with the movie is the portrayal of Jasper. I had forgotten how he was written in the book. He is helpful, supportive, & kind in his own way. He also has powers?? He can manipulate emotions. I feel like in the movies we see none of this. Every time I watch the movies he is by far my least favorite character but I really liked him in the book.

Overall, 10/10 experience & I will be playing the soundtracks on repeat until further notice.
