I thought that there was no better way to celebrate the new re-release of Obsidian than to do a Lux series reread.  The Lux series is one of my all-time favorite series, and it's been a few years since the last time I've read it, so I'm happy to finally have an excuse to reread the series.  I figured this time around, I'd start with Obsession since I believe it takes place before the events of the Lux Series.  Obsession is an adult companion novel to the Lux series and details the event that led to Serena and the Arum, Hunter, falling in love.  Serena and Hunter are characters that make an appearance in later books in the Lux Series, so I wouldn't necessarily suggest someone new to this series to start with this book but since I've read this series a couple of times now, I decided to start with this one.  There is something about reading an older Jennifer L. Armentrout book that is so comforting to me.  I have read this one nearly as much as the main books in the series, and yet I was able to easily get swept up into the book while reading.  I feel like this book is definitely reminiscent of a lot of Jennifer L. Armentrout books where you have the male leads that kind of gives off this cocktail, better than persona in which he doesn't seemed to care much for anyone else and yet when he meets his love interest, he falls hard for her.  Hunter quickly becomes the type that will burn down his world if it means keeping Serena safe.  I think their relationship develops pretty fast, but I think it makes sense since they only have one book versus the five books that Katy and Daemon have in the main series.  I like that we get to see things from an Arum's point of view with Hunter.  It makes it clear that not everything is black and white between the two species and that the Lux aren't all good and the Arum aren't all bad.  I definitely had a good time reading this book, and I can't wait to start my reread of Obsidian!
