Lies Sleeping by Ben Aaronovitch

5.0

Please listen to this series on audiobook. Seriously, I've said this before, but please take my advice! I swear Kobna Holdbrook-Smith gets better with every audiobook, and he was already incredible to begin with. I was really happy to see that Aaronovitch, who takes care to make his characters diverse anyway, seemed to take extra care in this book. He has several female characters in leadership roles and writes women well with a strong voice, I think. Overall, everyone just feels so real to me. I know that's partly the masterful voice acting, but there's a sincerity to Aaronovitch's writing that makes me think I might one day wake up and be able to create light in my hands or throw fire.
