Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson

5.0

10/10 would recommend!
I usually think descriptors of "fresh" or "unique" when it comes to books are just buzzwords but in this case I can honestly say I've read nothing like it.

I adore how often the author broke the 3rd wall to speak to the reader. I love that he flat out tells you what to pay attention to
say's that he's not purposefully trying to be deceptive in this section,
he comes right out and say's 'you're probably thinking this character is the murderer at this point... spoilers he's not',
or telling the reader to pay attention because he 'didn't just spend eighty words describing that for nothing'
Hell! He tell's you upfront the page numbers when characters are going to be killed and reminds you when they are coming up!

Despite being flat out told what factors to pay attention to, given a summary of all the clues before the reveal, I still didn't get everything exactly right and reveal or double meanings of the author still shocked me.

On top of that the unique, and brutal, method the killer used-- I have been obsessed with true crime and horror/thriller books for as long as I can remember and I've never heard anything like it.

Such a fun read, equally balancing humor, action, and torture. Wrapped up in an intricately connected plot. I loved it!
