Down the Drain by Julia Fox
5.0
dark fast-paced

No rating for bc it’s a memoir.

This memoir was pretty incredible. Julia’s life, from birth to adulthood, is traumatic. Julia expresses how when we desperately need love and affection, that we will seek it from anywhere or anyone. I hardly knew anything about Julia and yet, I really enjoyed this memoir.

Julia has faced so much loss; including the loss of friends who became family. It was hard to keep track of all the friends Julia has had, but that kind of adds to the story. When you are partying constantly, you make friends all the time, none of which end up sticking around. Also, not to mention how evil men have treated her throughout her life. This memoir is messy, but so is life. I still think the overall book was linear, but reflective of heroin addiction, abortions, break ups etc. I saw a review saying that Julia doesn’t do much self reflection, but how could she? Some of the most tragic events have only taken place within one year of her writing this book, give her some time. I also think Julia does know that she can be the one at fault, and there are many examples of this through her childhood and early teens.

P.S Kanye is a fucking weirdo.
