A Touch of Fate by Cora Reilly

3.5

All cora reilly books have the same exact plot and even if the plot is different what's consistent is the the girl getting married at 18 and being a virgin who bleeds during her first time, a man who's cold and ruthless and intends to be that way even after getting married, who thinks he's the only one who has the reins of the house and whatever he says goes as if the FMC's opinion is merely intolerable 🙄🙄 oh and they always have an age gap how can i forget. Anyways this book was all of that and frankly very boring but I really do like the main characters in this one which is why this book is 3.5 stars for me.

Emma is the FMC who lost movement in her legs when she was 11 due to an accident caused by her drunk bodyguard. I really liked how full of life she still was and always stood up for herself and her interests, never backing down when Samuel wouldn't agree with her choices. I found her spirit really really admirable (might have shed a few tears).

Samuel on the other hand is definitely one of the better MMC's i have read about in the cora reilly universe, he really respects Emma and treats her with the utmost kindness and consideration. His addiction was obviously a red flag but i like how this book showed the bad side of addiction (not that there's a good side) and how it can ruin lives and i love that he tried to became better for Emma and their son even though he lied his ass off and gaslighted Emma and himself to the brink but i guess that's how bad any addiction is.
And omg the Samuel and Serafina thing, i definitely cried 😭 even though i didn't read Serafina's book i can just tell Samuel is so heartbroken over not having the same relationship with his twin again ☚ī¸đŸ’”

All things aside i really loved them as a couple, surprisingly, it's just the plot is getting super boring and i wish she would change the FMC's personality cause all of them have the same exact shy young innocent personality 😭

Also the ending felt very abrupt it would have been nice to have an epilogue.
