I loved the concept of making up one's own prayers to a Divine Beloved--absent any gender or other anthropomorphic features and without delineating between a god(dess)/Creator/infinite self/Higher Self. The idea is not so much about changing oneself as it is about shifting out of the small egoic perspective and into a higher perspective. This I see as the essence of A Course in Miracles' exhortation to choose again.
