Batman, Volume 4: Zero Year - Secret City by Scott Snyder, Marguerite Bennett, James Tynion IV

5.0

If asked I would've said I don't particularly need another take on the Batman origin story. However, this origin retelling was thoroughly engaging with high quality in both the writing and the art. Unlike some comics where you feel as though you're wasting your entertainment budget because it takes about 5 minutes to read, this book invites you in for a longish and well-developed visit in the world of Gotham. This had the ideal balance of dialogue and art. And all the dialogue was used in the service of character and plot development.
