Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch

4.0

I was in a serious reading slump, and for at least 20% of the book, I had to force myself to read — not that it wasn’t good, it’s because I know I have to focus to really get into the story (sidenote: that’s how I get over my reading slumps).

Honestly, this book surprised me. When I picked it up, I prepared myself for a sappy, insta-love and stereotype YA roadtrips. I’m so glad it wasn’t at all that! It was relatable, and family-centered. I enjoyed how it didn’t focus on the “heartbreak” aspect, but on the friendship, the importance of adventure and of pulling yourself out of the gutter.

I know I should’ve read Love & Gelato first, but I never follow the “rules” anyway. I might go pick that up to check which one I like better, but we’ll see.

Highly recommend this book!
