Emily of New Moon by L.M. Montgomery
3.0
I wish I could have enjoyed it more. It is the less superior version of Anne of Green Gables. Because the scene and storyline we so very similar Emily paled in comparison and I found myself wondering if the author was incapable of writing anything but these young girls who are prone to melodramatics and writing. There was too much internal dialogue with Emily's journaling. Too man same events like the "lost" jewelry and the best friend drama, the stern caretaker, the "saved by the boy" bull story. The same offensive language that got Emily into trouble just like Anne, the understanding grown man househand. I found myself getting annoyed by what appeared to be the same retelling of Anne of Green Gables with just different names.
Making a 3 instead of 2 because there are some endearing quotable quotes that are unique to Emily.
