The Sisters Brothers
by Patrick deWitt
this book is fantastic. it's funny, sad, thought provoking. it's the story of two brothers who kill people for a living, in the old west. it tells of their travels, their relationship (tumultuous), their horses, the gold rush...
the way that the sisters brothers (and all the people they meet) speak is what drives this novel to genius. the dialogue is perfect for this story. perfect for these brothers. perfect for an update on an old dime store novel. the whole novel is actually eli's internal dialogue...as it's told from his point of view. by the way i love eli -- he's passionate, he's tender, he's struggling with his life, he's a really really interesting character.
ps so excited that John C Reilly's production company bought this. I REALLLY hope that it becomes a film. and that he stars in it.
