The Art of Obsession by Emily Shore
5.0
I wasn't sure I was going to like this, but I gave it a try, and I was shocked by how much I really, really liked it. I could not put it down. Beauty and the Beast but make it stalkery and violent and sexy.
Everleigh is a historian, obsessed with historical artifacts and items, making it her lifes work to catalog, discover, and learn. And the God of Art uses this to trap her in his own twisted exhibit. Using her for his own artistic development, but also to show his mastery of the artistic form, Acheron let's his obsession with his muse consume him.
But someone else wants what's his, and he'll fight tooth and nail to keep her to himself. As Acheron continues to mold Everleigh into his own human masterpiece, she realizes that her heart has been molded too. But it's wrong...right??
The snarky inner monologue for Everleigh brought just enough levity to balance out the darkness of this, and was honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole book. Surprisingly one of the best I've read in a while!
