Quick Breakdown:
Celebrity Romance
Friends to Lovers
Forced Proximity
ADHD Rep
Plus Size Heroine
Road Trip
Only One Bed
He Falls First
Dual POV
Open Door - Moderate Detail
Alex, one of the stars for a hit fantasy show, is know for being impulsive. While filming on location, he’s detained by authorities after a bar fight. In an attempt to keep the show out of trouble, the show runners stick him with Lauren, his new shadow & glorified babysitter, until the new season premieres.
The pair slowly transitions from tolerating each other to an easy friendship. When another incident threatens to separate them, they’re forced to acknowledge that maybe their feelings / attraction runs deeper than they wanted to believe.
Lauren, cousin of the show’s creator, is a licensed social worker & currently on an extended break secondary to burnout from her job as an emergency crisis clinician. As someone who works in emergency medicine with these clinicians & sees those suffering from mental health crisis on a daily bases, it was refreshing to see this occupation described in an honest & realistic way.
The fantasy of the celebrity paired with a regular person, especially with the two being physically complete opposites really worked for me here. Alex is your classic tall & fit hot celeb while Lauren is described as short & round with bird like features. The way Alex is described falling for Lauren felt like fate. They were written in a way that made it obvious they were meant for each other.
There was so much more to love, too. From the fan fiction & the ADHD rep, to the phenomenal banter & Alex’s submissive tendencies
