Wow, what an ending! These Hollow Vows was enjoyable the whole time, but that ending really had a lot going on. I loved being in this world and with these characters. Were they the most likeable? Not always, but I enjoyed reading about them and their decisions. The characters were all a bit morally gray which always makes for an interesting read. This is especially true when your protagonist is a bit in the morally gray territory as well.
I felt that the book was very very quick paced. This is no Lord of the Rings, you will not read much about the terrain or how characters travel from one place to the next. Things happen relatively quickly. The author used breaks within the chapter that would sometimes take a pretty large leap from one action to the next. That took some getting used to.
If you don't like love triangles and cliffhangers then this won't be the book for you. There is a love triangle although I felt like one of the love interests was more developed than the other. I hope that the next book remedies this. Despite that fact, this could have gone either way, so it'll be interesting to see how the next book deals with it.
