there is something so raw about siken's poetry. it depicts love and yearning as something bloody and violent; metaphorically and literally. he perfectly encapsulates what it's like to love as a queer person in our world, where the only option for is shame and loneliness. and how that shame effects intimacy. there is a quote that I can't stop thinking about which is “...the gentleness that comes, not from the absence of violence, but despite the abundance of it.”
