At the Edge of Surrender is the third book in the Moonlit Ridge series, a collection of interconnected standalones. We follow Kane, a man with a dark past, who is confronted with unexpected fatherhood when a woman named Emery arrives with her niece, his daughter. Kane can tell by looking into her eyes that Maci is his. He insists on taking care of Maci, but Emery is wary and wants to stay with him and Maci while they get to know each other. An undeniable attraction simmers between the two, and as they explore their evolving relationship, they must confront their pasts and the dangers they bring.

A.L. Jackson has done it again, masterfully weaving a tale of redemption, love, and suspense. Kane’s journey from a man haunted by his past to a protective figure fighting for his family is both compelling and heart-wrenching. Emery’s strength and determination add depth to the narrative, creating a dynamic and emotionally charged situation.

The chemistry between Emery and Kane is palpable, with the romance introducing tension and anticipation. The author captures the complexities of their relationship, making it feel authentic and earned.

The suspense elements are skillfully woven into the story and kept me on the edge of my seat. The threats and conflicts kept me guessing, and I was thrown for a loop!

Maci was an adorable addition to the story, and she and Emery wove themselves into the found family perfectly. I love seeing this band of brothers and their women come together to support and love one another.

Overall, this book was a captivating read that combined emotional depth, sizzling chemistry, and thrilling suspense. A.L. Jackson once again delivered a story that resonated long after the final page is turned. I cannot wait to see where we go next in Moonlit Ridge.
