The Woman in Me by Britney Spears
0.5
dark emotional sad tense fast-paced

I rarely say this, but this book was a waste of my time. For all the hoopla in the media it received, I expected something better. The book reads like a 12 year old's diary, and is just a recount of what happened at various key points in Britney's own life. Considering the career and life she's had, the book length (287 pages of digital edition) is a MASSIVE clue that her story isn't adequately covered in any way. Yes, it is very sad what happened to Britney, and I am glad she blew a topic of her conservatorship wide open, because harmful things should be talked about and brought to light so they can be disarmed. But as a book, story, biography - it has no merit at all. I cannot think about a single scene with context of the times all this was happening in (context is so important in biographies and autobiographies). It's probably the most shallow, lazy, zero-insight autobiography I've ever read.
