this book is essentially an evocation of how intense love can coexist with intense loss.

this is a story of hope and fear and unwavering faith in a time of adversity. it describes the highs and lows of freedom and the fight toward it. it displays injustice in its pure, uncensored form. it documents such overpowering grief and pain that as a reader you'll be clutching your chest in agony. your heart will ache. your mind will scream. and your soul will weep for the people of Syria.

no book has ever had such an overwhelming, visceral effect on me before. it is undeniably one of the greatest pieces of literature to exist in modern day.

this book is a protest. a call to action. a testimony to the strength and resilience of Syria and its people. this book is a voice for the voiceless. it echos the lives of those who suffered and those who continue suffering. it cries tears of blood. it sings songs of revolution. it demands justice.
