Flaws of characters a main focus:
Complicated
No plot, just vibes.
That's pretty much all there is to it.
It was definitely enjoyable, super fun and the smut was hot enough.
Probably the best thing about this book is the audio narration. Seriously, Elena Wolfe is a great addition and Jacob Morgan is a fucking god. Plus the voice modulation and the Batman mode made it even better.
But mostly, it was ridiculous. But, like, in the best way possible. If this book had taken itself seriously, it would've ruined the whole experience. But it didn't, it was very self aware of its own silliness.
At times, I did find myself looking for a plot somewhere in spite of knowing better, so that threw me off every once in a while. But I just pushed through, got back on track, and was grinning again at the mess of it all.
And it was a mess, alright. Some parts of this felt like a poor attempt at a school assignment in teams where a bunch of people did their part individually and then just smushed everything together and submitted the result.
So, really, no plot whatsoever, solely sustains itself on vibes. But they were good vibes.
If you're looking for the next Pulitzer prize, you're definitely not gonna find it in this book. But, if you manage your expectations, it's really enjoyable. I might even go for the next one, too.
PS: Check your trigger warnings, though. Really important. I must admit, theunintentional cannibalism gave me pause in the trigger warning list, and then actually flew right past me in the book (my dumb ass didn't even register it with everything going on, not until its second appearance).
Add: The next one is narrated by another one of The Greats, the one and only Teddy Hamilton. So, yes, count me in.
