I picked up this book because it was being advertised as an optimistic look at the future. In some ways, it was. Unlike many books about the near future, it does not describe an apocalypse. However, it is not a very cheerful optimism either. It is much more realistic, describing the world as a messy thing with many challenges to overcome through imperfect solutions. If you want to learn a lot about what some of those solutions could be, this is the book for you!
