Calder Grit
by Janet Dailey, Janet Dailey
What a great little story! I'd give it a 3.5 if we could rate half stars. I recieved this book from a giveaway on goodreads and I must say books from this era are not my go to. But I enjoyed the story line, its a short easy book to read in an afternoon. I do have to say, I feel like the author just kind of gave up there at the end. Maybe it will be a series, but at the height of the story, the author forked over some resemblance of closure suddenly in the epilogue.
Over all the story line follows a Swedish immigrant who migrated to Montana to farm wheat. Their trials and tribulations when greedy selfish men make their presence known only get worse as the immigrant homesteaders show their grit and determination to follow their dreams on their land at their own will. The story more closely follows Hanna a girl of 17 who makes decisions that affects her entire family, the destiny behind those decisions however, helps this family and others like them survive.
